The strength of the real estate market within The Woodlands is yet again evidenced by the willingness of another huge company to set up headquarters in the area. The Howard Hughes Management Services Co. has just been formed and provides property management, risk management, tenant relations programs, financial reporting, and lease administration as part of its services.
One of the company’s subsidiaries, The Woodlands Development Co., has also begun construction on Two Hughes Landing in the area. This building will offer almost 200,000 square feet of space and is part of the Hughes Landing development that features various amenities and facilities for families. The corporation says that the 52,000 employees, 1,900 employers and 22 million square feet of development in The Woodlands marks it out as a vital commercial real estate hub in the state.
MolecularHealth is a Swiss-based genetics testing company, and it has chosen The Woodlands as the venue for its first American office as part of its plans to provide genetics sequencing lab services in the nation from 2014. It currently has four executive positions and is looking for highly qualified candidates for its lab operations team.
The company plans to provide cancer diagnostics to pathologists, oncologists, patients, and their families. It speaks volumes of The Woodlands that an internationally renowned cancer company chose it as the centre of its North American campaign and is yet another clear indication that The Woodlands is becoming one of the most important commercial real estate and business hubs in the state.
Exxon Mobil Corp. has announced that it will begin the process of moving 10,000 employees into the Springwoods Village corporate campus. Exxon has released details of its campus, which includes 20 office and specialty buildings and a three-acre public square that resembles those found in public parks around the US and Europe.
It also includes a town hall, auditorium, meeting rooms, an on-site child development center, and a wellness center that spans 10,000 square feet. In other words, Exxon has created a type of miniature city for its employees. Other developers in The Woodlands region are buying land in huge quantities, and it is believed that new submarkets will emerge as early as 2014 due to this new campus. This development will also result in thousands of new homeowners arriving in the area.
